Remotely Supervised Home-Based Resistance Training and Orthostatic Tolerance in Young Physically Inactive Women During COVID-19

چکیده

Introduction: Orthostatic intolerance (OI) is the inability of cardiovascular system to adequately adjust gravity upon standing, resulting in lightheadedness or syncope. OI can be characteristic pathology (e.g. postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), which disproportionately affect women, and compounded by inactivity. Thus, we tested effects remotely supervised home-based, 4-week resistance training (RT) program vs. control on stress response previously inactive young females using NASA Lean Test (NLT). Methods: Systolic (SBP) diastolic (DBP) blood pressures, heart rate (HR) were assessed during NLT, pre- post-training, along with fitness body composition randomized RT (n=7). Results: improved (group*intervention, p=0.047) fat-mass (-3.4±2.9 +0.3±0.7Δlbs, p=0.037) over control. The NLT significantly altered SBP, DBP, HR (all, p<0.01). For interaction group*intervention approached significance (p=0.071), lowering SBP group intervention. In was not significant (p=0.558). HR, (p=0.066). Conclusions: current study, short-term remotely-supervised bands tended decrease young, otherwise healthy, females, suggesting health but perhaps tolerance.

Orthostatic Tolerance Greater Orthostatic Tolerance in Young Black Compared With White Women

We hypothesized that orthostatic tolerance is higher in young, healthy black compared with white women. To determine orthostatic tolerance, 22 women (11 black and 11 white) underwent graded lower body negative pressure to presyncope. We measured blood pressure, heart rate, and R-R interval (ECG) continuously at baseline and through all of the levels of lower body negative pressure. Blood sample...

Comparing minimally supervised home-based and closely supervised gym-based exercise programs in weight reduction and insulin resistance after bariatric surgery: A randomized clinical trial

Background: Effectiveness of various exercise protocols in weight reduction after bariatric surgery has not been sufficiently explored in the literature. Thus, in the present study, we aimed at comparing the effect of minimally supervised home-based and closely supervised gym-based exercise programs on weight reduction and insulin resistance after bariatric surgery.  &n...

Effects of Resistance Training on Serum Cortisol and Dehydroepiandrosterone Levels in Trained Young Women

Background & Objectives:Endocrine hormones, through their anabolic or catabolic function, contribute in body homeostasis. They can be used to assess the physical performance in athletes. This study was performed to determine the resistance training (RT) influences on serum cortisol and dehydroepiandrosterone in trained young females. Materials & Methods:The study population c...
